Fenway Park in Boston is one of the most famous (not to mention smallest and oldest) baseball stadiums in Major League Baseball and is also home to the city’s beloved Red Sox Baseball team. The team is loved and adored by the local Bostonians and the stadium has been their home since 1912. Even though the stadium is old and relatively small for such a hugely popular team, it’s owners have committed to keeping it the Sox home turf at least until Fenway park is declared a national monument in 2012 (on it’s 100th birthday).

The Boston Red Sox (not unlike their home town running mates, the Celtics) are simply an iconic and historic part of the US sporting landscape and if you can get a ticket to a home game during the season you have struck gold. Due to the size of Fenway Park as well as the indescribable popularity of the team, Boston has the most expensive and most sought after tickets in all of baseball.

Not to worry though. If you’re in town during the off season or even on a day where games are being played, you can take a guided tour to this almost sacred site and see for yourself the stadium, the stands and the legendary ‘Green Monster’ of Fenway Park. The local guides also fill you in on the history of the stadium and the team as well as their legendary rivalry with the New York Yankees (as much as the Bostonians love their Red Sox, they may well equity dislike the New York Yankees and the rivalry between the tow teams is one of, if not the greatest rivalry in all of American sports). You’ll also hear about how the Red Sox became Major Leauge Baseball Champions in 2004 (after an 86 year championship drought and the ‘curse of the Bambino’) and then won it all again in 2007.

Even if you’re not a huge baseball fan, visiting Fenway Park with all it’s history, tradition and superstition is an awesome, almost spiritual experience.

Fenway Park is within walking distance of the centre of Boston while a short cab or metro (‘T’) ride as well as Bostons famed trolley tours will get out out there very easily. Check the official site of the Boston Red Sox for more details.

  2. Williams was commissioned during WW2, but was a flight adviser and never “fought” during the war. Williams was recalled for the Korean war at 33 and flew fighter jets on action missions. But yes…his stats were appealing amazing. He absent 4 years (in his prime years) to aggressive service. If this didn’t happen, Williams no agnosticism would accept captivated the all time HR appellation overп»ї Ruth and Aaron.
