How to pay for optional excursions - Europe

Optional excursions are booked and paid for through your Tour Manager once you are on tour.
Every Tour Manager in Europe has their own style when it comes to collecting payment for optional excursions but payments can only be made in local currency cash to your Tour Manager. Unfortunately credit cards cannot be accepted on our European Tours.

Hey one more question. With Europe it says you can only pay by cash for the excursions. On the Amsterdam-Barcelona tour, there are several excursions that are restaraunt/show related. I would assume that you can pay by credit card there?

Your tour manager will let your know when you should choose your optional excursions, on most tours it’s usually a few day into the tour. If you have optional excursion available in the first day or two of your tour though your tour manager will also let you know a little more about them and how they would like you to sign up for the excursion. Travelers Cheques are a very quickly becoming an out-moded form of carrying money. I don’t think Travelex/Thomas Cook even issue them anymore. Visa/Mastercard debit cards are great. Some excursions are 48 hours notice if you want to change your mind others are more flexible – every excursion is different, and, again, your Tour Manager will be able to help you out with this once you’re on tour.

Hi there, I wanted to ask the same question. Do you have to choose upfront about what excursions you want to do? and I take it they can be paid for by travellers cheques? providing they are in Euro’s. Is it safer to travel with travellers cheques?

Do you have to pick and pay right at the start of your tour or are you reminded of the optional extras and to pay at each destination?

No worries, you can roll over the change into another excursion and take the left over off the cost of other excursion/s.

Has anyone used the travel vouchers? I got four $25 vouchers but it says if the excursion is less than $25 I don’t get change back.

As long as the travelers cheques are in Euros – I think travelers cheques are becoming out-moded very quickly. I’m pretty sure Travelex in Australia doesn’t even issue them anymore.

That is a great question since I now can not use my credit cards for the optional excursions. Someone please let us know if we can use travelers cheques?
