Travel to/from airport
By far the cheapest way to get form Melbourne Airport to the city is on the Skybus which runs between the airport and city center, making a loop through the city before terminating at Spencer Street Train Station. It only takes about 20 min, and costs $16 one way, $24 return.
For three or more people traveling together, a taxi is the best value to or from the airport, costing between US$AU30 and $AU35 depending on traffic.
Sports Tour testimonial
“I, being a sports mad fan, loved the tour. The tour guide was very informal and gave useful information about many different sports. My girlfriend enjoyed the tour because driving on the bus gave her the opportunity to see many of Melbourne’s sites that otherwise we could not have. To finish the trip lunch at the Telstra Dome was delicious with a beautiful view, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. It was great how at the end of the tour our driver offered to drop us anywhere around the CBD. Overall it was a terrific experience.”
If you’re after a good bite to eat – amongst the discreet laneways, such as Degraves Street and Centre Way – you will find some of Melbourne’s cosiest little cafes, serving the best breakfasts in town at a really reasonable price!
For the best coffee & cake in the CBD, head to Brunetti’s on Flinders’ Lane. Guarantee you will not be disappointed!
Things to do
There are hundreds of must-do activities in town, but there are certainly things every visitor should try to squeeze into their itinerary and experience Melbourne like a local. Get up close and personal with art and craft at the St Kilda Esplanade Art and Craft Market. The wares are eclectic, and the bay views electric. It’s also right by one of the best photo opportunities in town – the gaping mouth of Luna Park. Or try the Rose Street Artists Markets in the Brunswick Street Precinct of Fitzroy. The artisans are here and very eager to share their talents. And is the local fire-eater does not make an appearance, head over to the Crown Entertainment complex to enjoy the site of immense fireballs above the Yarra.
