Niagara Falls is one of the most famous sights in North America. Located directly on the border between the United States and Canada the Niagara River, as well as the Falls, forms the border between the two countries and bridge links the towns of Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada to Niagara Falls, New York, USA.

Throughout its history, Niagara Falls has been a magnet for dare devils who have tried to go over the falls in barrels, boats, rafts and even by riding bikes along tight ropes suspended above the 50 plus meter (over 150 foot) drop down the Falls.

Niagara Falls on the Ontario side of the Falls provides perhaps the best views of huge waterfalls while you can also get up close and personal by taking a ride on the world famous ‘Maid of the Mist’ boat that cruses to the bottom of the Falls.

The Canadian town of Niagara Falls is popular with visiting young Americans from across the falls due to younger legal drinking ages and also because of it’s casinos and as such has a feel of a mini-Las Vegas.

The Maid of the Mist

The Maid of the Mist is the best way to both see and feel the power of Niagara Falls at the same time. Armed with a complimentary rain poncho, the boats take you very close to the base of the falls. From you vantage point on the top deck, you can snap photos of the falls from the river level. As you get closer, a heavy mist begins to hit you, and soon you can feel the force of the falls crashing down in front of you.
