Nightlife - Athens
Last Updated: 7th Jun 2012
Believe it or not there is not a great deal of nightlife in Athens during the summer time. The entire party scene shifts from the city to the islands like Ios and Mykonos and anyone who travels to Athens in the summer should make an effort to visit the Greek Islands.
South of the city center you will find the Glyfada beach area, home to a few clubs during the summer. The city center though is packed with tavernas and small bars around the Monastiraki district and although the scene is very chilled, informal and relaxed, it is always open late.

Your article on Athens’ nightlife in the summer is completely wrong. The clubs, restaurants, bars, concerts, art scene jumping in Athens is even more lively than the world’s other great capitals. The summer months of June, July and September are amazing in the city – and in the beach suburbs. It may be true that the city empties a bit between 10-25 of August, but not for the entire summer. Hit me up and I’ll show you what I mean.
