The capital of the great state of North Carolina is also the stage on which some of the world’s greats have shone!
Only a few miles down the road in a town called Chapel Hill, a young man named Michael Jordan lifted off from the freethrow line and forever became known as ‘Air’. Perhaps ironically, a few miles down the road in the other direction a couple of brothers invented a contraption that was to change the face of the world forever, when they successfully made the first manned flight of an aircraft.
Jordan and the Wright brothers brought a completely new identity to the state of North Carolina, which was and still is, well known for its endless fields of tobacco grown for the mass production and sale of cigarettes, as well as its hundreds of miles of pristine coastline.
Three words: The Golden Corral. All-you-can-eat authentic American food, and as much of it as your stomach can hold! It’s a beautiful thing.
The town of Cary (which is where Contiki tours spend the night) has a bowling alley and a movie theater, both of which can be fun, if you are not already preoccupied with laundry or making space on your camera’s memory stick.
