The Roman Baths are exactly what they sound like – They are ancient bath houses used over one thousand years ago, built by the Roman Empire.
For the historically inclined, touring the Baths gives an amazing perspective about the technology and lifestyle of the Roman Empire’s citizens. Everything form the aqueducts to steam rooms to artwork to the original water is on display! Touring the Baths is all about seeing where much of civilisation came from, and the perspective and lifestyles of people from over a millennia ago.
For people who care about history or heritage, the Roman Baths are definitely an enlightening experience. For everyone else, the town of Bath itself is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and definitely worthy of a sightseeing stroll.
You don’t actually bathe in the baths at Bath…they’re Roman ruins…pretty cool but they smell funny too, I believe they’re thinking about opening up public baths again in Bath. The rest of the city is lovely….if you go there you must hunt down ‘Sally Lunns Buns’...hot and covered with jam and cream…yum!
