<p>It&#8217;s almost impossible to travel to <a href="/contikipedia/articles/australia">Australia</a> and not get at least a taste of the sports-loving vibe crated by so many of the inhabitants.</p> <p>Depending on the time of year you can catch a game or cricket, A <a href="http://sydneyswans.com.au">Sydney Swans</a> Australian Rules Football or a huge array of <a href="http://www.nrl.com">Rugby League</a> games. The Sydney <a href="http://www.mardigras.org.au/">Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras</a> has gained world renown amongst both the gay and straight community alike and draws thousands of people to the city every February/March.</p> <p><a href="/contikipedia/articles/sydney">Sydney</a>, along with Melbourne is one of Australia&#8217;s two <a href="/contikipedia/articles/olympic-cities-visited-by-contiki">Olympic Cities</a> and many of the sites for the 2000 Games are still utilized by the city&#8217;s many sporting teams. Proclaimed by then <span class="caps">IOC</span> president Juan Antonio Samaranch as being the &#8216;Greatest Games ever&#8217; the Olympics left a cultural mark on the city that can still be felt and seen today.</p> <p>Horse racing in Australia is as much about socializing, fashion and atmosphere as much as it is about the actual racing itself and Sydney boasts two of Australia&#8217;s premier race tracks in Rosehill and Randwick and a trip to the races is a truly Australian experience that any punter or party animal should not pass up.</p>
