St Stephen's Catacombs, Vienna

Deep in the foundations of Vienna’s St. Stephansondom Cathedral lurks the catacombs…
Along side the coffins and tombs of cardinals and royalty, there also lies cavernous vaults of bones stacked up various rooms of 10,000+ people. During the Black Plague, many victims were tossed in the mass graves found below the cathedral. If the seeing many rooms stacked from floor to ceiling with bones or viewing them thru a grated floor piques your curiosity, then hike over to the cathedral and take the guided tour. Definitely a very intriguing experience to peer into the past.
