Swiss Chalet
Last Updated: 19th Jun 2012

The Swiss Chalet is one of Contiki’s exclusive special stopovers and can be found at the foot of the Swiss Alps in the village of Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland.
Facilities
The Chalet has huge a huge dining room with a great kitchen that is famous for it’s authentic Swiss fondue while there are also laundry facilities in the basement. With all the amenities of Camping Jungfrau (one of Europe’s top campsites) on the doorstep you also have access to restaurants, internet, shops, events and tickets to local attractions.
Many of the rooms have amazing views of either the Alps or the waterfalls the pour down the sides on the mountains into the valley below and waking up to such majestic scenery is something that has to be experienced to be understood.
Activities
The Chalet is a great place to simply hang out on a sunny Swiss summers day while it is also a fantastic base to get out and explore the local area from. Some of the most popular activities in the Lauterbrunnen valley include hiking, and visiting the nearby town of Murren and the Trummelbach Falls as well as what is widely regarded as one of the most pure, pristine and beautiful places in the world – the Jungfrau Mountain.
The Bombshelter
Throughout the summer season, the basement of the Chalet is transformed into one of the best bars on the Concept/Budget Tour circuit. ‘The Bombshelter’ is literarily the bombshelter for the Chalet (all buildings in Switerland by law must have one) and is a great place to party and meet up with your fellwo travellers – plus it’s only a short walk upstairs to bed!

my favorite stop on my trip, surrounded by mountains, a fast moving river just steps beside, a half a dozen waterfalls within sight, absolutely stunning
