In the Northern Territory, if you would like, you will do a lot of hiking with your Tour Manager. It is the best way to see this unique area of Australia. You should make sure you have packed appropriate footwear – hiking boots or trainers with a sturdy sole are perfect. The heat and being in the sun a lot will knock you about if you are not used to it. Your body gets dehydrated quickly so remember to always have a bottle of water handy and wear sunscreen and a hat!
Don’t take anything really good to wear (i.e. your best cocktail dress or dinner suit) and try not to take white clothes to the Northern Territory if you want them to stay white……they will definitely come back with a red tinge………from the desert dirt.
What clothes should I pack for the Northern Territory? In summer shorts and a shirt is all that is needed, plus a jumper if it happens to get a bit chilly at night. Swimwear for a refreshing dip in the Garden of Eden at Kings Canyon is a must – don’t forget a towel!
In winter most of the time you can still wear shorts and a shirt during the day. However, you will need to bring warm clothes because it does get cold at night. Long pants, a good jumper, a beanie to keep your head warm and gloves are advisable.
