Every Contiki is filled with exciting moments and shared fun with your new friends. It’s also about having your own time for that random travel tale to tell or finding a special little corner of Europe to remember.

We pack plenty of free time in to each tour so once we’ve shown you the main sights, there’s time to make it yours. Explore with people in your group, or take time out on your own to chat with the locals, read a book in the park or just wander and see where the moment takes you.

If you need ideas, we have tons of awesome optional extras like a cabaret show, bobsledding and gondola rides, and we can book them for you too so you make the most of your spare time.

Every Contiki tour gets you access to some of the big sights and experiences, but designing your own adventure is half the fun. Get started with a few of these ideas:

  • Ride a camel in Egypt
  • Check out a techno club in Berlin
  • Sit in a café in Venice and watch the boats on the canals
  • Get the scoop on ancient Pompeii with a guided tour
  • Learn Spanish from the locals in Barcelona
  • Try fresh olives or Halvah dessert from the Greek markets
  • Climb the Eiffel Tower for a stunning view over Paris
  • Watch the Changing of the Guards at Buckingham Palace
  • Jump on a bike around Amsterdam
  • See where the Gladiators fought in Rome’s Colosseum

Staying in our Swiss Mountain Lodge halfway up Mt Titlis in Engelberg is only half the fun.

Jump in the gondola, then head the rest of the way up the mountain in the Rotair, a 360 degree rotating cable car (one of only three in the world). The views you’ll get of the stunning Alps and the valleys below will take your breath away as it rotates to the top of one of Switzerland’s highest peaks.

Make sure you bring your walking shoes so when you’re done admiring the view you can hike one of the trails at the top.
