Edinburgh: I love you!

24 Aug 2012 - 27 Aug 2012

Just got back yesterday from the most amazing 4 days. Edinburgh at this time of year is fantastic. It's like a cultural Mecca, with the proud Scottish bagpipers (as a fellow Brit, felt very proud!) the hilarious comedy acts at the fringe, amazing cabaret acts and Edinburgh's epic history to sink your teeth into, you won't stop smiling. In the two full days we had (2 travel days) I managed to see Edinburgh Castle (worth it), The Scottish Whisky experience (amazing), The Mary Kings Close (the underground city they built on top of! Scary stuff) and see how Tarten is made in the Tartan Mill.

Yet again had a fantastic tour manager (Jason) and driver (Tony) who managed to plan the epic drive so that we saw the Scottish border on the way up and the infamous Gretna Green on the way down. We stayed at Edinburgh University, so each had our own room, shared showers and a huge breakfast each morning (definitely needed it with all the exploring!) The tattoo itself is an epic experience and we had the best seats in the whole place!

I can't wait to go back and see the rest of Scotland now, already planning it. Easily the best way to see these two amazing cultural events, huge value for money, and I learnt and loved so much!
