Northern Choice (Auckland to Christchurch - Until October 2014) » Review by brodiemcphie
I was so nervous booking my Contiki tour, this was the first Contiki I had ever done and I was really scared that I would have an awful time. I was so completely wrong!
Contiki NZ was the best experience of my life, my tour manager's Aaron, Hayley and Wicksey were awesome and my group became a big dysfunctional family within hours. I think a lot of people skip the North Island because they think its not as pretty or there aren't as many things to do but it couldn't be further from the truth. Watching dolphins swim under our catamaran in Paihia, singing 'My Heart Will Go On' in the Waitomo Glom Worm Caves and white water rafting a 7m waterfall in Rotoura are just some of the things I found myself doing in the North. I did the North with Contiki and most of the South Island but myself. My biggest regret was not doing the whole of NZ with the group. New Zealand has incredible scenery and heaps of activities all of which are more fun with a group. I slept for a week when I got home because I was a tourist all day and partied with my Contiki friends all night. There are plenty of opportunities to spend the night in or chill out but no one in our group did for FOMO (Fear of missing out) and we knew that something funny or exciting was bound to happen every step of the way! Please DON'T be the person who neglects the North! You'll be missing out on beaches, hot springs, glow worms, boat parties and some of the prettiest cities in the world!
