My friend and I jumped on the bus in Wellington and the group had already been together for a few days as they started in the south island, but they welcomed us with open arms! It was crazy how fast we all became instant friends and there weren't a lot of groups already formed...everyone wanted to be friends with each other! A lot of the people on our tour either came in doubles, and enough even came as singles, so don't be too worried if you plan to do this trip solo! The trip itself was so much fun.. I recommend rock and ropes, and white water rafting. The black water rafting wasn't available to us because it had rained a lot so there was too much water in the cave. New Zealand is just a spectacular country... I only had the chance to do the north island..but I think if you have a chance try and experience some of the south island because I heard it was breathtaking! The accommodations were awesome..from hotels to lodges to hostels (I've never seen such nice hostels haha)! The Bay of Islands is BEAUTIFUL..so hopefully you have good weather to truly appreciate it! Also, polynesian spa was nice and relaxing! Be prepared to party a lot... there was only one day where we didn't party like it was the weekend..but then had to make up for it the next day! Have fun! I'm definitely looking into doing another contiki tour!
