More free time you choose where to hang out

Traveling with Contiki in South America is about creating your own adventure

Sure, we'll take you to all the places you expect to see, but getting off the tourist trail and experiencing what makes each country tick is how you can get the most out of your journey. That's why we give you lots of free time to explore on your own, hang out with the locals, find a great café to have a meal in, or just relax.

We've also handpicked tons of awesome Explore More optional extras if you need ideas for your free time. We can organize them for you too so it's easy.

One-day Inca Trail option

Walk in the footsteps of the ancient with our Inca Trail trek option. You'll take the train with our Inca Trail guide and get off at km 104 to start your trek to one of the most enigmatic places on the planet. Have lunch at the trekker's lodge, then trek along the original Inca stone path to the Sun Gate and Guardian House, where your hard work will be rewarded with your first glimpse of the incredible ancient site of Machu Picchu. Wander around and enjoy the site at its best.

If you fancy adventure and adrenalin instead of trekking, spend a day in the Sacred Valley and then check out Machu Picchu the next day (choose the preferred option at time of booking).
