Ace Hotel, Palm Springs

Take a chill pill.

Acehotel-detail_full_for_exchange

Palm Springs seems to have the reputation for being some lavish spa destination for the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. And it is. But it’s also for regular Joes like you and us.

It’s a desert city where spa treatments and massages are plentiful, as is horse-riding, golf, biking, hiking, resort pools and palm trees.

The Ace Hotel in Palm Springs (there are also Ace establishments in New York, Seattle and Portland) was once the Howard Johnson Hotel, which was built back in 1965. Now though, it’s typically Ace – understated but oh-so-cool.

You can have a massage, you can go to a wellness class, you can swim in the luxe pool and look up at the desert sky. But you know we’re mostly interested in their restaurant, right? A lot of the food is sourced locally, with a lot of the specialties (coffee, cheese and bacon – trifecta!) produced by respected local businesses.

If that all sounds a little too tame for you, keep in mind that the Ace throws big parties during Coachella, Gay Pride Week and the White Party.
