In the middle of the rainforest stands Australia’s one and only bungee tower. 50m high, looking down on the tree tops below – would you have the nerve to jump? A J Hackett is almost a bungee institution in Cairns with travellers from all over the world popping their bungee cherry atop the infamous tower. Choose from 16 different jump styles, or opt for a go on the minjin swing – slightly less terrifying but equally as exhilarating!
From leaping off a tower, to jumping out of a plane (we told you it’s impossible to be bored in Cairns!). Undoubtedly the most memorable way to view the Great Barrier Reef, skydiving in Cairns offers 360 degree, uninterrupted views of one of the Seven Wonders of the Natural World. You’ll also get an eye full of the lush tropical rainforests, and it’s just mad crazy fun. What more could you want!
With over 1,500 species of fish, 6 different species of turtle and 17 species of sea snake, there is literally no reason NOT to dive at the Great Barrier Reef. Whether you’re a qualified open water diver or just in the market for a test run, there’s something for everyone. Whilst snorkelling is equally awesome, you can’t quite beat the peace and serenity of being deep underwater, truly appreciating the incredible colours of the coral and fishes. White Water Rafting
Are you ready to get wet? White Water Rafting in Cairns is exhilarating, fast paced and totally worth it! Hot Air Ballooning
OK, so maybe hot air ballooning isn’t exactly an adventure sport, but it’s still awesome. Get up at dawn and enjoy a 60 minute ride over the Atherton Tablelands (commonly known as the Cairns Highlands). Riding in a 120ft balloon watching the sunrise with (perhaps) a glass of champagne in hand – perfection.
