Azealia Banks is one of those few artists that can be described as actually "fierce". You would not want to mess with her. Sure, she has an angelic smile and pig-tails, but we'd put money on the fact that if you crossed her, she'd beat you to a pulp. And then possibly eat you up.
We first heard Harlem-bred Banks's music back in 2009, when she was performing under the moniker Miss Bank$. She rapped over the top of Ladytron's haunted 'Seventeen' and released the original 'Gimme a Chance'. Both tracks were sassy as hell – especially coming from a 17-year-old.
Now 20 years old, Banks has skyrocketed into the public consciousness with '212', a song in which she displays so much attitude, it aches. She is unashamedly confident, and it's fabulous. Her flow is great and she drops words in an equally venomous and saccharine manner.
Basically, if this is the first time you've heard of her, you'll be mad you didn't discover her earlier.
