Bob Staake is the author and/or illustrator of over 50 books and is a contributor to the New Yorker. He entertains and challenges his readers, but with this latest project, he’s created something that is kind of messed up. In the best possible way. Staake has taken the design and ideas from books like The Little Golden Book series (which began way, way back) and has made them into visual parodies that are kind of demented. The 1940s-50s imagery and lettering is totally thrown off by Staake’s dark and strange titles. We especially like the one of the little kids playing with the dollhouse – it’s title, though? A Good Place To Hide The Bodies. And the children looking out to sea, called Dead Whales Can’t Wave Back. Evil genius. See them all HERE.
