Deemed the most exciting show the international dance scene has to offer, Ballet Revolucion took Australia by storm with the premiere of its world tour in July 2011 and has just shimmied its way through the British capital of London and over to Germany. An explosive fusion of ballet, contemporary dance and modern hip hop, Ballet Revolucion is the work of talented Cuban dancers and an all star Cuban band, and is a must-see for 2012!
Featuring hits from the likes of Enrique Iglesias, Shakira, Santana, Ricky Martin, Chris Brown and Beyonce, Ballet Revolucion is ‘ballet unleashed as only the Cubans know how’ and will have you grooving in your seats from the minute the curtains open. The crew boast passion, ferocity, energy and athletic skill that will leave you feeling like the most uncoordinated person on the planet but will also fill you with absolute awe and admiration – the kids can dance!
Produced by Mark Brady and Jon Lee, it was the dynamism of Cuban dance that inspired the duo to take a new exciting dance event straight out of Havana and in to the world and we’re oh so glad they did. Ballet Revolucion gives its audience a unique opportunity to see some of the world’s most talented and contemporary dancers from elite companies in Cuba perform way beyond their normal repertoires and has been described as an evolution of Ballet as much as a revolution. It fuses Cuban classics, modern Latin American and R&B hits so has something that everyone will truly enjoy.
The show debuted in London on 18th April at the Sadler’s Wells Peacock Theatre and has since been attracting positive reviews from Press and a wealth of new fans. The Guardian wrote ‘it pumps you up, delivers an endorphin high’ whilst The Daily Express said it was ‘dazzlingly fast-paced, humorous and sizzingly hot-blooded’ – GET US THERE IMMEDIATELY! The debut was received with a thunderous applause and standing ovation and was attended to by actress Perdita Weeks and Shoe God Christian Louboutin who said ‘pure enthusiasm which is going through everybody else, it’s really worth it!’
Having finished wowing English crowds the show is now making its way over to Frankfurt where it will play from June 26th to July 1st. Following this, Ballet Revolucion will tour Germany, showing at Munich and Berlin as well as smaller cities such as Hamburg, Dortmund and Bremen.
