Bar 878, Buenos Aires

Ocho7Ocho

Bar878-detail_full_for_exchange

Bar 878 (also known as Ocho7Ocho) is one of the sneakiest little bars in Argentina’s Palermo district. This bar used to be a super-secret speakeasy, but it’s recently come right out and declared itself a legitimate spot to drink.

That said, it’s still tricky to find. The only hint that there’s a bar hidden inside is a big security guard standing in front of a big wooden door. Inside it’s a darkly lit bar with lots of exposed bricks and friendly bar staff.

Apart from impressive cocktails, you can enjoy tapas (please get the stuffed squid) and if you’re so inclined, cigars. There’s an extensive list of cigars to choose from and a smoking lounge for you to enjoy them in.

We wouldn’t normally suggest smoking on cigars, but if you’re in a semi-secret bar in Argentina, it’s kind of a get-out-of-jail-free card.

Bar 878 is at Thames 878, CP 1414, Buenos Aires.
