New York City has figured out the food truck value, and now Melbourne has too. We're pretty sure that over the next few years you'll be able to get pretty much every kind of cuisine from a mobile diner.
The Melbourne original though (aside from Mr Whippy, we guess) is Beatbox Kitchen. Founded a couple of years back by Raph Rashid, Beatbox Kitchen is pretty much that: a food truck that looks like a giant boombox – but it also drives around to different places around Melbourne each meal time. All you do is follow Beatbox Kitchen on Facebook and/or Twitter to find out the locations and times.
But let's talk food. Pretty easy: it's great. The burgers are super simple, but really tasty. And they don't scrimp on ingredients. (i.e.: pickle lovers needn't worry.) And for dessert: an ice-cream brownie. This is Americana comfort food, on the move.
