Sam: Sumatra (an island in western Indonesia) and Japan.

Contiki: What do you do when you’re not travelling?

Sam: I study secondary teaching at uni.

Contiki: How do you save for a trip overseas?

Sam: I stop eating chocolate cake.

Contiki: What’s your best travel memory?

Sam: The surf trip to Sumatra. There’s no electricity, no roads and the surf breaks are untouched. It’s incredible.

Contiki: Fresh underwear, a camera, your iPod. If you could only have one of these items on your next trip – which would it be and why?

Sam: My iPod – I don’t wear underwear anyway!
