An inside look at the debut of one of our fav Aussie labels
Contiki is lucky enough to have a review of fashion label BLESS'D ARE THE MEEK's début solo show at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Sydney, by none other than one of the label's designers.
We've loved this Australian label for a while now & were wowed by their first solo appearance at fashion week . We're lucky enough to have an in with one of the talented designers, who writes:
Having our Fashion Week debut in a 2011 group show, We exceeded expectations with this morning’s solo show. We were one of the last on the MBFWA 2012 calendar, we we're clearly determined to finish the week with a bang, the collection revealed amidst a kaleidoscope of colour and light.
Starting with a slew of pale pieces from mini dresses to sequinned shorts and gauzy tops, the show then revved up the colour spectrum with turquoise laser-cut dresses and shell-embroidered tops. Deep purple and prints paraded out next with neoprene accents and cut-out details adding to the drama.
We had holographic light show designed by Laser Vision both opened and closed proceedings providing a truly singular MBFWA experience. From cream, blush and nude hues to almost brash black, violet and mint shades, the entire range was well curated.
Well-tailored tulle and slick black leather punctuated by iridescent sequins followed, with crochet trims, embroidered panelling and metallic beading helping to bring the collection together. The overall feel was one of a moody underground, everything sleek and deliberately inviting.
