Chet Faker, Australian electronica musician, has finally released details of his highly anticipated and long awaited debut album, Build on Glass.
In 2012, he won 'Breakthrough Artist of the Year' and 'Best Independent Single' for his EP Thinking in Textures. His Debut album is set to be released on April 11th and is currently available for pre-order via iTunes.
“I recorded the album at my home studio. I rent a small converted cooling room in the heritage listed North Melbourne meat market. Honesty is a big part of the record. I recorded with easily affordable equipment, the budget was tiny. It’s the first time I’ve ever worked on a full length and I felt like hi-fidelity wasn't something to strive for working in a room on my own. Lyrically, I wanted to explore how my life directly affected my music - that’s the glass, I guess.” - Nick Murphy, aka Chet Faker
Working hard on the album for a couple of years now, he mentioned to Triple J that he scrapped and restarted the album twice before completing it.
Here is the first taste of the album and by the sounds of things, it's going to be a good one.
