In his own words, Cassius Fouler “makes art that matters to you”.
The New York-based artist has a solo exhibition, called Four Borough, on show right now in Bushwick. The exhibition is running until August 11th and includes all kinds of work from paintings to collages and sculptures.
Fouler’s work has a strong influence from NY’s graffiti history, but rather than the art, it’s mostly the culture surrounding it. There are gritty, grimy feelings that permeate much of the artworks.
There are crudely painted (but carefully created) images of street scenes, collages made from used up and discarded markers and paintbrushes, and all kinds of colouful and playful pieces.
Weldon Arts is at 181R Irving Avenue, Brooklyn, New York.
