It's crazy to think that YouTube launched to the general public at the end of 2005, right? Seems like it's been around forever. I mean, how did we fill our days before videos of cats riding vacuums and an astronaut's awesome rendition of 'Space Oddity' were available with just the click of a mouse?
And now, over 6 years later and 6 billion hours of video viewed every month, a group of Canadian vloggers known as 'Apprentice A' are hosting Buffer Festival, the first international YouTube film fest, taking place in Toronto from November 8-10, 2013. Featuring videos from some of the world's biggest vloggers like Charlie McDonnell, Charles and Alli Trippy, Superwoman and Prank vs. Prank to name a few, the festival includes screenings, meet-ups and nightly events.
Now, we're not the type to miss out on a party, which is why Contiki will be showing up as the official travel sponsor of the festival. Over the past two years, you've seen us take YouTubers all over the world on our trips, from Europe to Latin America to Asia and the South Pacific, and now those content creators will be screening a collection of their best videos in Contiki's very own theatre at Buffer Fest.
Not awesome enough already? We're also giving away two trips to Europe, including land and air, so you too can create awesome travel videos to share with your own social networks. To enter to win a spot on the 10-day European Magic trip, just stop by the booth outside of the Contiki theatre and chat to a member of our team.
In the meantime, check out some of our favourite YouTubers who will be screening in the Contiki theatre:
Prank vs. Prank
Jesse and Jeana are dating. They're also involved in a giant prank war, making for some of the funniest videos on YouTube.
Charlie's been making YouTube videos since 2007 and has become a bit of a professional vlogger. His videos range from funny to educational to downright random. And we love 'em all.
Andrew's one of our favourite Canadian vloggers - he'll make you laugh, he'll make you think and he'll make you want to keep coming back for more. Did we mention he's coming to Thailand with us later this year as well? Shenanigans galore.
Charles and Alli Trippy decided to make their personal lives public the moment they started doing daily vlogs on YouTube back in 2008. Since then, they've shared emotional moments like their engagement, wedding and most recently, Charles' brain surgery. We love 'em and you should, too.
*Note: Charles and Alli won't be attending Buffer Fest, but will be streaming live during their screening.
What to say about Nadine? This lovely YouTuber has been all over the world with Contiki, hiking the Inca Trail in Peru and sailing around the Whitsundays in Australia. Check out some of her epic Europe travels below - got the travel itch yet?
As the president of Apprentice A Productions on YouTube and the founder of Buffer Festival, Corey is a vlogging force to be reckoned with. He's been creating videos and daily vlogs since 2006 and recently directed a feature-length documentary called 'Vlogumentary', set to be released later this year. He's also travelled with Contiki to Europe and Latin America, and will soon head with us to Thailand and Australia, too. Needless to say, we've got mad love for Corey.
