You know how there are rules in surfing – like you never drop in on somebody and get in the way on a wave? Danny Brown is surfing his wave and doesn’t seem worried about people trying to steal his sunshine. (That metaphor got messed up a while back, didn’t it?)

Brown, a 31-year-old rapper from Detroit, released music back in 2003 but seems to have just come into his own recently. And everybody is loving it sick – not just the hip hop world.

Mark McNairy got Brown to model his spring/summer 2013 collection. The line is made up of staple menswear; tee-shirts, button-up shirts, shorts and chinos, but it’s certainly not humdrum. The fabrics (hello, pleather), the patterns (hello, polka dots), the slogans and the graphics all make this range really pop.
