With a title like ‘Phone Sex’, it’s understandable to expect this song would be a little dark and sleazy, but it’s the exact opposite. It’s a dreamy little pop song that’s awash with synthetic steel drums and cutesy vocals – it was inspired by K-Pop.
It was created by Vancouver-bred, Los Angeles-based producer Blood Diamonds (aka Mike Tucker) and features everybody’s favourite Canadian pocket rocket, Grimes.
Grimes (aka Claire Boucher) says of the song: “The song came after a sleepless night in Mike's room, sipping gin and reading Nabokov over the holidays in Vancouver. It's our ultimate pop fantasy brought to life.”
