Jill Greenberg is one of America’s (kind of Canada’s) best photographers. Her work is laden with poetry and drama – it’s cinematic to say the least.
Greenberg has photographed celebrities and politicians and crying babies (one of her best projects and certainly worth a long look) but her most recent series is called Glass Ceiling.
It’s a pretty magical collection of images, with women seemingly dancing in water. The women’s poses, the glistening water, it all seems like some kind of fantasy or fairytale and there’s an amazing sense of stillness, while also insinuating motion. Pretty clever.
It’s all about the “set up” of being a woman; women’s bodies, identities and all the positives, pitfalls and perceptions that come along with it.
