Sydney-based artist Kill Pixie (aka Mark Whalen) seems to have a lot of tricks up his sleeve. And by "tricks" we mean "styles". The guy is hogging a lot of creative talent to himself.
His meticulously created artworks have been, most recently, put onto grid paper (maths class style) and look like they have been painted in an OCD-meets-ritualistic kind of way. It's all candy-coloured psychedelia, mixed with some nightmares and mazes.
The worlds that Whalen has invented are "laden with sex, religion, race, and violence" in which his subjects "play out scenes that titillate and torture with reckless abandon..."
Of course.
Edwina Corlette Gallery, Brisbane from 31st July to 5th August.
