Lana Del Rey has once again embraced that vintage vibe – her trademark blend of ‘50s and ‘60s and something current – for her ‘Summertime Sadness’ music video.
The grainy, moody video is a matched with its song perfectly: melancholy and melodramatic. It vaguely tells the story of Del Rey and her suicidal lover Jaime King.
It’s all very over-the-top tragedy, with plenty of filters and atmospheric shots, much like a lot of Del Rey’s videos (especially ‘Video Games’) but this time was directed by King’s husband Kyle Newman and Spencer Susser.
It begs the question too: are we all finally over hating on Del Rey?
