Mexican artist Minoz currently has a solo show in Espiralismo, Mexico City, at FIFTY24MX and if you’re in town, you’d be a fool to miss it.
This is an artist whose work you’d be likely to see on walls in the streets, but also in high-end galleries. His is the kind of art that spans any kind of categorising like that, it’s just damn good.
Good, but also a little on the creepy side. Minoz’s work oftentimes depicts strange mutant types with half-skulls for faces, or cardboard creations, or no face at all. But instead of seeing these characters as monsters, the viewer has an affinity for them, there’s something universal about them.
It’s a little creepy, a little sad, and very beautiful.
Gallery FIFTY24MX is at Colima 159, Col. Roma Norte, Mexico.
