You really can eat cheap in the United States of America. It’s no joke. And places like Nickel Diner really bring that truth home.
Nickel Diner is absolutely no frills – you probably don’t want to take a first date there (unless you’re really confident) – but it’s all good. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, Nickel Diner offers pretty basic home-style cooking: from double stuffed roast chicken, to whip-up pastas, steak and fries and burgers.
If you’re not overly thrilled, you will be when you see the prices and serving sizes. Basically, we’re not sure how they make any money.
The serve staff is friendly and pretty casual, but make sure you ask them to talk you through the dessert options – even if you’re not keen to order one. A huge plate of desserts will appear on your table and your waiter/waitress will explain them all to you. Please, please, if you have room, order the S’more cake.
