Opening Ceremony, London

Pop-up shop.

Oclondon-detail_full_for_exchange

For a store that is very ‘farshun’, Opening Ceremony had pretty unfashionable beginnings.

Business partners and OC founders Humberto Leon and Carol Lim met at a mutual friend’s house and when Leon suggested they go out somewhere, Lim put on some heels with the pyjamas she was already snuggled into. Not bad.

Since then Leon and Lim opened Opening Ceremony in New York’s Soho, then other stores in Los Angeles and Tokyo.

…And now London. At least for a moment.

The pop-up Opening Ceremony is in Covent Garden, London and was created as a temporary store while the permanent London version is finished. Coincidentally, the store’s opening coincided with the New York store’s opening, as well as the London Olympics.

Chloe Sevigny (an OC favourite) has brought back some of her older designs, and designers including Band of Outsiders, Pamela Love and House of Holland have made Olympic-themed garb specifically for the store.
