Shepard Fairey in Los Angeles

Americana show at Perry Rubenstein Gallery.

Shepardfairey-detail_full_for_exchange

Here’s collaboration and a half: Shepard Fairey and musical legend Neil Young. Young provided Shep with a bunch of inspiration for this new show called Americana though his lyrics and tunes.

Many of the images in the show are purely Shep’s visualising Young’s songs, while others actually contain some text and lyrics.

Together these two super-famous and influential dudes could have done just about anything, so it’s kind of great to see them both work within a theme that’s so close to both of them: patriotism, but more so, making the USA an even better one. (And in neither of these two artists’ minds does that mean more powerful.)

Perry Rubenstein Gallery is at 1215 N Highland Ave, Los Angeles.
