This year’s Splendour in the Grass festival may have been rocked by the last minute disappearance of Frank Ocean from the lineup, but that didn’t stop the Contiki crew from getting footloose and fancy free.
The North Byron Parklands showed off with its mystical forest setting and predominately blue skies, allowing attendees a weekend of escapism from the realities of a chilly winter.
Inducing passersby into a frenzy of jealousy, our 100 strong Contiki campsite set up shop right beside the festival gate. Mornings were spent mooching around our communal area (set up à la vintage lounge-room), drooling over the Lonely Planets and reminiscing about the joy of tearing up the dance floor into the wee hours with the Red Bull Music Academy.
Meanwhile, the Contiki folk who opted to keep things clean, calm and collected at Nomad’s Hostel were hi fiving all round when they discovered they could skip the four hour bus lines and swan into the event like royalty with their exclusive transfers on the Contiki coach. Winning.
Yet again, our favourite Australian music festival put on the goods with 3 days of blissful beats, a damn fine selection of international food and enough market stalls to keep our shopping addictions at bay.
We’re already getting foamy for next year. Ten points, SITG.
