It’s not often that you’d associate old men and lumberjacks with Staple. But there are a few pieces in their fall 2012 collection that seem inspired by those blokey styles and we’re not mad about it.
The line is made up of cosy looking hoodies, patterned button-ups, lots of camouflage and army green. Our favourite pieces are the Native American-style patterned shirt (with suede lining on the pocket) and the tribal-esque patterned knitted hoodie. It is complete with elbow patches.
The collection, named American History ______ was chosen because “history of this nation can be traced back to a constant struggle between the haves and the have-nots, which is very much a prevalent topic in this year’s economic and political forecast”. Which might not seem to have a lot to do with fashion, except that the have-nots might not be able to buy a lot of Staple’s collection.
So on that not very cheerful note, we leave you.
