“Gastropubs” are very common in Australia. We love a cosy pub situation with lots of comfort food.
But in America, the humble pub isn’t as much of a ‘thing’. Which is why The Churchill is such a treat.
This open and airy place has a super-casual vibe while at the same time remaining pretty classy. Stand at the bar for a quick cocktail, or settle into one of the leather benches and graze.
We really suggest grazing, and trying just about everything you can. The California mussels in white wine and Dijon-butter broth, grilled hanger steak, homemade gnocchi, and the roast cauliflower gratin were favourites.
A word of warning though: if you’re sipping on cocktails, the Revolver is no joke. It’s made with fire roasted pepper infused tequila and comes with a jalapeno. It’s hot hot hot.
The Churchill is at 8384 W Third Street, Los Angeles.
