Located in the trendy little district of Amsterdam’s, De Pijp, The Collector Store is a must visit for any fashion or design lover! The concept store began as an online retailer in 2008 but recently opened its shop front in April and since then fashionista’s around the globe have been losing their mind over it.
The Collector Store showcases a range of exquisite fashion pieces from well known brands including American Retro, J-Brand and Anya Hindmarch, but also has the ‘Collectors Items’, which have been individually sourced from the likes of flea markets and souks around the world – meaning you get a one-off piece that has had the fashion elite tick of approval!
The Collector Store is much more than just a clothing boutique and prides itself on being able to tell its consumers a story and offer a complete look rather than just trend-based pieces. Its website explains, ‘we don’t just follow trends because they are cool, or buy brands because they have a good name. We want to make a selection of our own favourites. This means we search all over the world to look for new brands to keep the website (and now store) up to date.’ Aside from this, what we also love about the store is that it has a feeling of exclusivity. The buyers do not purchase a lot of one product and instead usually buy just one per size so that you won’t run into your neighbour wearing the exact same dress!
The Dutch boutique boasts a team of buyers with a trained eye but also works with prominent people in the fashion industry to style some of its pieces. The Collector Store has worked with some of the world’s top fashion bloggers and writers, including French blogger Garance Dore and Vogue NL Online Editor Rinke Tjepkema, who have selected their favourite pieces from the store and have shown how these can be worked together and also worn with your own wardrobe.
The store also has a brilliant magazine which not only highlights key products for the season but also gives info about new trends, brands and cool designers... view it online at; www.thecollector.com
Whether can afford to spend your pennies or just fancy a spot of window shopping, it’s definitely worth checking out The Collector Store. The eclectic interior or chic Parisian exterior, are worth a look in themselves.
