From its world dominating footballers to extravagant carnivals and eye candy beaches, Brazil is a land of plenty. But a land of adventure? You may just be surprised! Check out our choices for an ultimate adventure thrill in Brazil.
1) Iguassu Falls
Waterfalls are awesome, period. Gushing water, big rocks, mist, splashes, what’s not to love? So imagine looking at 275 waterfalls ALL AT THE SAME TIME. This is Iguassu Falls, the largest series of waterfalls on the planet. Jump on an inflatable speed boat and be prepared for some natural hydration as you speed through Devil’s Throat, an incredible 90 metre high waterfall. For those who prefer a bird’s eye view, grab a helicopter ride and take some of the best Instagram shots of your life. Nature lovers, keep an eye out for the colourful toucans, macaws and parrots.
2) Favela Tour, Rio
Think the favelas are all violence and poverty? These tours are designed to change just that misconception. Travel inside one of Rio’s largest favelas and explore the complex architecture, sense of community and bustling commerce of genuine favela living. Taste some local food, watch craftsmen at work or check out a samba school, and you’ll soon have an altered perspective.
3) Capoeira Classes
Martial arts fans, look no further. Capoeira is an authentic Brazilian martial art form that combines elements of dance, acrobatics and music to basically make you one kiss ass ninja. You may not leave having accomplished ALL of the various cartwheels, flips or various other ‘exotic’ techniques, but you will definitely feel ninjafied. Join in at one of the various capoeira schools or just stand back and watch the masters at work.
4) Hang Gliding, Rio
Imagine the scene. You’re flying over Rio. You’re simultaneously taking in the stunning mountain ranges and perfect beaches. You have a light tropical breeze in your hair. You feel like a bird. (And your strapped to a man’s back). A tandem hand gliding lesson is undoubtedly one of the best ways to experience the beauty of Rio and its multitude of attractions, and you get to feel like Superman in the process. Too good to be true!
