Hey guys, I’m looking at doing one of these 2 next year around july, august or september and would like to hear from anyone who has done one or both of these. What were your thoughts, good and bad. Hearing from a tour manager or bus driver would be great. Oh, and I like drinking. Preferably every night, weather its out in a big city or in hotel rooms or cabins… it always makes the night that much more exciting, and I can sleep when I get home! Thanks in advance.

Hello everyone,

I’m from Canada, but currently in Afghanistan. I get a couple weeks vacation and I’m heading to New Zealand.

Just wondering if anyone has any advice on what I should do before my contiki tour in Christchurch starting March 21st to the 27th. I’ll be landing in Auckland first and i will have several days to make my way down to the south. I will be renting a car till i get there, but wondering what to do along the way. Any suggestions?

Hello everyone! I’m doing the Great Britian and Southern Ireland tour on Aug 7-Aug 24 with a friend of mine, and I was just wondering if anyone knows a safe and inexpensive way to get from Heathrow Airport to the hotel. I’m on a budget and I really don’t want to pay for a cab, or get lost taking the subway either. I heard that the some hotels send a van to pick you up at the airport for a fee(of course!)

Any suggestions? I’m flying into London by myself.

Thanks,
Moemab

Hey everyone I know this is a vague sort of question but I have been spending a lot of time comparing European tours and am having trouble deciding.

I want to spend the most time in Italy and France but don’t want to miss out on the other countries too, hence why I don’t want to do the trips that focus on Italy or France only…

I am looking at European Experience because of its budget pricing and it also includes the paragliding in Austria option. But it doesn’t include a visit to Vienna which I want!!

European Panorama includes all the places I want to visit but it’s almost double the price of Experience! European Vista looks good too and includes a visit to Prague along with Vienna…. so many choices!! Hard to choose!

How do all these tours differ from one another other than the places visited? I know this question has been asked so many times on this forum, and I’ve done my reading… but still on the topic of superior vs budget… which is better? Is it true that most of the budget accomodation sites are really far away from city centres? Would luggage safety be an issue? I was thinking I could use the money I’d saved by going on a budget trip rather than superior on souvenirs, gifts, meals, and excursions.

What does everyone think? Thanks in advance!!

Hi All,

I’ve booked a Canada and the Rockies tour for the 5th September.

I am planning on seeing a few of the sights in Vancouver and Whistler before and after the Contiki tour. Things that maybe aren’t covered on the tour or I want to see for a longer length of time.

I thought maybe people would like to share their experiences or their travel plans of the things they have or want to do while they are in Canada to give me some ideas.

Here’s my list so far…

~Whale Watching
~Rocky Mountaineer train ride from Vancouver to Whistler
~Aquarium in Vancouver
~Possibly take a trip to Seattle
~Grouse Mountain

Let me know your ideas – and if any of the above are worthwhile.

Thanks

Kat

Does everyone know this –

“As of Monday 12 January, all passport-holders previously eligible to travel to the USA under the Visa Waiver Program must now obtain approval through the USA’s Electronic System for Travel Authorisation (ESTA) before they travel. It’s a simple, no-charge online process. Applications and further information can be found on the ETSA website.”

I didnt know this until I read it in the paper!!

Hi!

I’m a first time traveller hoping to see some of Europe in July/August this year.

I’ll be travelling alone and was wondering if this is common on these tours. Is it easy to make friends or do people keep to themselves?

I’m an Aussie, but i’m hoping for a mix of travellers from all over. We Aussie’s seem to have a bad reputation for partying too hard and not respecting/taking interest in the places we visit.

Although i’m no stranger to a few drinks and a fun night out, my reason for going overseas is to experience the culture and see the sights. (although i’m up for seeing the nightlife for sure!)

Generally my thinking is, i can get smashed and get laid in Sydney without any trouble, so why go half way around the world to do the same thing when Europe has so much to see and do?

Will i be dissapionted by Contiki?

Also, are there certain tours that lend themselves to my kind of travel more? ie hotels over camping, or indepth over whirlwind tours?

Taa!

Hi Everyone,
I live in the US and I am doing the London to Athens in June and debating what form of currency is best and safest. Any opinions? I know that certain credit card companies and banks charge you extra for out of country exchanges. Would it be cheaper to do ATM and have that one time charge, or easier to use your debit/credit card at the stores and restaurants? I don’t want to travel with $3000 I have budgeted for a 25 day trip. I’m open to suggestions. Thanks for all and any help!
P.S. Yes, I am super excited about the trip. I will be my first Contiki.

Where abouts does contiki stay when on Corfu?

been doing research about the nightlife and i’ve come to the conclusion that Kavos is the place to be for nightlife while on Corfu.

Is there taxi/bus services that go from the main town to Kavos all night??

How is the nightlife in terms of clubs and bars in the main town?

I’m planning on going to the European Magic tour in late September (so I can be in Munich for Oktoberfest) and was supposed to go with two friends, who bailed on me last minute…so I’m going on ahead and going alone…
few questions…
1. Does the “group” usually hang out together and do the touristy stuff? (gondola ride, eiffel tower, etc…)
2. If I decided to break away and do my own thing, does Contiki provide you with maps (so I don’t get lost) and is it safe for a girl to be walking around alone…I’m a born New Yorker and have my street smarts, but hello, I’m alone in Europe!

I’m just getting last mintue jitters, and I’m sure I’ll be fine, but answers to those questions will definitly let my mind rest a bit Smiler Confused
