Hey, just a quick question – how do i know if i need a converter? I just checked my straightener and it says 240V. Do you know if i need a convertor to make it work in Europe/ UK?

Also, do all countries in Europe use the same adaptor? Or do i need to buy one for each countyr (i checked out a link in FAQ, but it showed 2 adaptors for each country, so i’m confused!!)

Thanks Smiler

Heya,

I’m going on the June 21st Euro Horizon, and I’ll be getting to Heathrow on the 21st at around 11am. I was originally planning on just taking the tube from Heathrow to the Royal National, but a few people have told me that it’s a horrible idea…people are apparently pushy and rude, and it’s confusing and difficult especially while carrying your luggage. I was hoping not to have to spend a ton of money on taking a taxi to the hotel. What do you guys think? What is the best way of getting to central london? Is there another way of getting there that I don’t know about? Thanks in advance!

Hi guys
Im looking out for a reasonable priced airfare from London to Dublin return as Im planning to check out Ireland after my Contiki. Does anyone recommend any good web-sites for cheap fares or will it be cheaper just to go to a travel agent in London? Aer Lingus and Ryanair fares seem to be going up as the seats sell out, does anyone know if they have last minute sales on the net to fill up seats??

Hey guys.

Obviously there are various reasons why you
can’t take photos or get the video camera out
in certain places.

What I’d like to know is – what are the places/attractions around the europe tours who
will stop you?

Maybe we could make a list for reference Smiler

Hi Guys was just after some thoughts. Has anyone been on Contiki with a very expensive item. (engagement ring) I was just after some advise on not losing it. As i want to propose to my girlfriend in Paris but it is our last stop. So not only will i be trying to keep it safe we will be living out of the same bags for 2 weeks before we get to Paris. Just thought someone may have been through the same situation. Cheers Guys…

Hi all, I really could use some clarity! I’m going on the March 17th- April 7th European Vista and I don’t really know what kinda weather to be prepared for. Is it to cold for me to even carry flip flops? Should I carry a pair of calf length boots? I’m a big t-shirt and jeans American girl but should I only pack hoodies and warm stuff? What about my PJ’s, do I need really warm stuff like thermal undies or are the hotels average temp? I’m trying to pack light so I just want to know if anyone has been on the trip during that time of year and can lend some help! Thanks

A friend and I are pretty set on going on the Greek Island hopping tour in September. We like the idea of touring greece while having the option of relaxing on the beaches. I like my fair share of partying but from what I’ve read that’s all you do on this tour. I want to know that if I travel that far I’m going to also have the opportunity of soaking up some culture?!?! I don’t just want to experience Greece intoxicated and forget half my experience. Also I’m prone to hangovers Eeker, is there time to recover during the day? haha!! Thoughts Please!!!!

there r many versions==sort of check lists out there !! Here’s one more,,will update, as & when I can think of something !!!

1. For Ipods/camera- Double adapter, convertor, surge protector

2. Spare battery & extra memory for digital camera

3. 2 credit cards- prefrbly visa & master card. call ur bank ahead of trip & inform them of ur trip. Also have ATM pin for ur credit cards in case of an emergency. Also, carry ur debit card for routine withdrawal

4. Suitcase- Dimensions- 29 * 20 * 10 or 73 * 50 * 25. Duffle bag with wheels or a suitcase. Also take a daypack or simply just a bag-pack. about 20 kgs

5. Cash in euros/ a small amount in TC

6. Hand sanitizer/ Face wipes/ Toilet paper

7. Flip flops/ sandals/ sneakers

8. If ur carrying a cell phone, get an international calling card (EKIT)

9. 1-2 thin towels, which would dry easy

10. Sunscreen/ Sunglasses/ Cap

11. Flashlight

12. Alarm clock

13. Suitcase locks

14. Toiletries/ some laundry soap

15. small handy umbrella

16. Medicines (tylenol, band-aids, triple anti-biotic cream, cough lozenges, anti-diarrheals, motrin, anti-histamine, tyelnol pm or a sleeping pill if needed). If u wanna go crazy, throw in some pain patches (bengay, icy-hot)

17. Ipod/ Digital camera. Dont forget the chargers and the battery holder for the camera

18. Throw in a small bag or empty bagpack in ur suitcase.

19. Have 2-3 sets of all your documents, 1 with u & 1 in ur suitcase

20. Travel pillow

feel free to add,, am sure there r things I took for granted or simply forgot, which probably need to be on the list !!!!!

Hi! New to the forum…haven’t travelled with Contiki yet. I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice about what time of year to do the Scandinavia and Russia tour (33 days). I notice in the 2006 bokk, it says the tour runs from May to August. Is there anyone out there who’s done this trip and can tell me when they went and why they liked it or didn’t like it at that time of year? I’d also like to know if anyone missed out on something because “it wasn’t the right time of year to see/do it”. I’ll probably have a lot of questions about this trip…. Thanks in advance…

Hi everyone, I’ve got another question.

So I know that there are restrictions to size and weight of your bag… but is there restriction as to how many you can bring?
I was going to bring a suitcase and a day bag, but I also wanted to bring a soft empty duffle bag to fill with everything I buy during my trip.
So in the end I’ll have
1.a suitcase
2.my day bag (will be my carry on)
3.duffle bag full of treats and treasures

is this alright as long as they are all light enough?

SmilerHello everyone,

I am interested on going on the “Beaches and Reefs” tour in Australia. However, I am wondering if you could tell me a little about the meals that are included in the tour. I am bit of a picky eater- my meals at home are pretty simple!

Are the meals buffet style? OR
Are the meals planned out ahead of time- for example, 3 course dinners?
If the meals are planned, what kind of things are served from the menu?
Do we get to choose what we eat?

Well, thanks for your advice Cool

Jenn
