Hi, i’m doing the Grand Southern Tour next April with a friend. After the end of the tour we’re going to use the Greyhound buses for approx. 60 days to explore the northern states from New York to Las Vegas. I was just wondering if anyone had any tips for using the Greyhounds and also, how easy will it be to get reasonable/budget accommodation in each stop without booking in advance? Any advice would be really appreciated! Smiler

hi, i am doing 3 tours over a 2 month period in europe during their summer, i am planning on travelling light and if i need anything i will grab it over there, are there plenty of opertunities to grab things u might need, and also are there plenty of opertunities to do washing and stuff like that as i am going to have the basics only? thanks bren.

Watch out everyone – there is a big difference in the Contiki brochures between “Visit” & “See”.

“Visit” means you actually go in – “See” means a quick drive-by.

Don’t get burned.

We had a fabulous trip nonetheless…but Contiki really should be clearer in their wording.

Hi everyone,

I was interested in doing the ski tour of New Zealand this year (have never done a contiki before) and was wondering if anyone could answer some questions for me?

1. How far in advance do you need to book the tours?
2. Do you book and pay for the optional extras on the tour or beforehand?
3. Did anyone go on the Cleo/Ralph ski tour last year and what was it like?
4. I’ve got my own gear, should I take it with me or would it be safer/easier to hire over there?
5. If I stay a night before or after any recommendation on where to stay? ( the tour starts/ends in Christchurch)
6. Are there any other expenses that I’ll need to pay for that aren’t on the itinerary?

Ummm thats all I can think of right now, but might post again with more questions!

Thanks for any help, Stef Smiler

I have heard really terrible things about both the Imperial and Royal National Hotels..

Can anyone suggest any alternatives to these hotels? (Just to stay a night or two before my tour departs from the Royal National? So withing the same area…)

The last thing i want is a dirty room/to be robbed/scammed etc before leaving for my tour.

Thanks for the help!

For the people who have been on European Inspiration tour or people who have heard reviews about it, I would just like to know your experience of this tour if the tour reflected the price.

I am planning on doing this tour in late September and im willing to hear reviews about this tour.

After my tour i am planning on taking the London Package and would like to know if it was worth it?

Has anyone done this. Did you think it was good value.

Thanks guys!!

I’m doing two tours, Greek Island Hopping May 24-6 and then Reverse Med. Highlights June 10-23. I have 4 days in between to get from Athens to Rome. I looked into flights, they start at around $135…which seems reasonable but then apparently Italy charches a air tax of $285. So the one hour flight is over 400 dollars. Do I have any other options for getting from one place to the other?

Hey I’m travelling solo on the Wild Western in January, I would like to spend either a couple of days pre or post tour in Anaheim to explore Smiler since i’m alone, can I still book the double occupancy room (@ 55$/night) & they pair me with someone or do I have to book a room for myself? (@ 100+$/night)?
Thanks!

Hi,
I am thinking of doing this cruise next year and was wondering if anyone had any reviews? Some specific questions would be:
What was the ship and cabin like? As I will be with my partner can you get a double bed?
Did you have enough time in each place? Which optionals were good?
Any advice would be appreciated!

I’m doing the Reefs and Rainforest trip that begins in Sydney Dec. 31st. I arrive on the 30th. The prenight was not available, being that it’s New Years I’m having trouble finding a place available for the night. Does anyone know of a place that may still have vacancies at a reasonable rate.

Hi guys,

I’m thinking on taking the Contrast Reef and Rock tour in Feb and was wondering if Contiki brings you back to Cairns when the tour is done or do they leave you there to find your own way back to a major City

If they leave you there does anyone know of any carriers to fly back to a major City

Any information would help.

Thanks

So, I notice that quite a few people who do SCUBA diving or sky diving have their pictures doing such. Is this something that is done with the activity or are people skydiving and SCUBA diving with their own cameras? Because the pictures I’ve seen look very high quality.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has gone on any tour that starts in Rome. The only one I know for sure that departs in Rome is the Simply Italy tour.

I’m planning on arriving a few days before the tour begins so I can explore the city a bit, but I have no idea where to stay. I want to check out hotels/hostels, and I want to book something fairly close to where the tour leaves from. If anyone has some info on where the Rome (Simply Italy) tour departs from…please share.

Thank you,
Gina
