I’m planning on doing the Ultimate Euro-trip and will be traveling alone. I plan on staying in Europe for about 2 months. Looking to meet some people that might be on this trip. I tend to be a bit shy when I put myself in new and different situations but like to do it anyway. Hope to hear from some potentialy new friends!

1) Do people usually sit in the same seats the whole time? Or each time you get on, do people pick new spots?

2) Sorry if this is a dumb question, but is there a bathroom on the bus? I’m sure it’s been asked before, but I’m sticking it in with my first question! ;-)

3) Another question that may have already been asked – how many people can fit on a bus (how many people per tour is there usually?)

Hi, I just booked my european discovery trip for 9/26. I noticed we will be in munich
during oktoberfest and was wondering about what time we arrive in munich from rhine valley and if we would be able to go on our own to a tent. I hear you have to get to a tent early to get a seat, and I really dont want to miss this! thanks.

Hi people,

Am considering booking the Beaches and Reef tour sometime in October this year, just wondered if anyone had been on this and could tell me what the accommodation was like and names of exact hotels/lodges you stay at??

Also noticed that from Cairns to Sydney it is slightly cheaper than from Sydney to Cairns yet both are same duration of days – just wondered why this was?

Thanks

Jan

Hey everyone, I’ve travelled with Contiki and would like to offer some advice:

If you plan on taking a credit card to Europe, you may want to call your credit card company to let them know you’ll be travelling so they don’t think the card has been stolen and cut you off.

Another thing I recommend is carrying your cash in a money belt, I find it safer.

Plan on spending $100-$150 USD per day. You’ll have to buy lunches daily, souveneirs, some dinners and going out at night. You should try exchanging money before you leave. You’ll have to chance to do so on the tour, but easier to get that part out of the way and have one less thing to worry about.

When you pack, throw some clothing into your carry-on to lighten the weight of the suitcase and in case your luggage gets lost. Leave room for souveneirs & carry with you an extra copy of your pasport and hotel address list.

In terms of weight of luggage, it’s the airlines that are more strict than Contiki. Each airline has their own weight threshold & will only be too glad to charge you extra for going over. You can find out the limit/rules by going on the airline’s website.

Feel free to ask me anything else.

hey there

I’m doing my Mediterranean highlights tour in reverse, starting July 1st. I booked all my flights online, and most of them are charter flights. I have to switch planes in Heathrow but I only have 4 hours inbetween my flights. The flights aren’t connected so I’m going to have to recheck my luggage and all that fun stuff. Does anybody know if 4 hours is enough time?? I sure hope you guys say yes, because on the way home I have only 3 hours to do the switch Frowner

Hey..maybe this is a stupid question.. dont know… but I’ve been kindda worried about this “luggage weight limit”, and specially to women, this is a “complicated topic” lol, so just a few pants and t-shirt’s are fine? do we need to dress up in a “fancy” way every night when we go out? is it the most terrible thing if you start to repeat shirts at the end of the tour? =P do they weight your bag every day? or just on day one? do you need to control the things you buy there, not to go weighier then the limit? sorry for all the questions. Thanks in advance =)

Hey, I’m not heading away until summer 2010 to Europe, but looking through the brochure and seeing everyone all nicely straightened and frizz-free hair, just wondering what you girls do? Chances are I’ll chop it shorter before I go… Straightening my hair everyday is possibly ridiculous, not to mention – are all the plugs the same across Europe?

hi guys
i was interested in hearing from people who have done both a concept and time out tour and to hear whether forking out extra for the hotels was worth it? and whether they were closer to the city centres in comparison with the concept tour accomodation?

also, what is offered for breakfast on contiki? i read somewhere that a bread roll with jam was the usual??? I hope there is a bit mroe variety than that!

07-Nov-2008 04:29:48 PM (GMT) ROME (AP) _ A train and mass transit strike is expected to disrupt traffic throughout Italy on Monday.

Transport unions said Friday they called a 24-hour nationwide transport strike, set to begin at 9 p.m. (2000 GMT) Sunday. Some long-distance service and some regional trains used mainly by commuters will be guaranteed on morning and evening rush hours.

The strike was called to put pressure on national transport union contract renewal talks.

SmilerHey, I am 22 yrs old, and planning to take the spanish Spree tour with Contiki> It will be my first time as well as many of my friends who I am trying to get to come-I researched all the tours offered, and found this one of Spain stops in most cities and areas and includes Ibiza which is a Bonus-My question is-is it worth going with Contiki-or independently? Alot of my friends who attend school find the tours to be really pricy-but then this is Europe, and does include lots- Another question is what month is best to take this tour? I am sending out invitations to my friends which will be in regards to this tour, and they can pass it on to anyone they want to invite and so on so I can gather a fun group in coming-I do believe it will be everyones first time doing a group tour to Europe-We’re all between 22-27yrs of age-Please help me with your opinions-
Thanks so much Smiler Smiler
