Hi,
I read somewhere on this forum that when we start the tour in London you get given sleeping bags. Does anyone know if this is true? Is it included in the tour price or extra?
And if instead of starting in London you start in Paris do you still get a sleeping bag?
Thanks.

Hey. Im heading off on the European Contrasts on August 29th and wondering what poeple who have already been on this tour can tell me on some tips (littlest things).
Things like Laundry Opportunities, How Much Money, Optionals and the littlest things I may not even think of like packing, dining, tipping, etc.

Can anyone who has done the Grand Northern tour last year tell me approximately how much the hot air balloon ride was? There is no price indicated on the website
Cheers!

Hey everyone! I’m having a dilemma choosing between a Budget or Superior tour, and I think one of the deciding factors between the two will be the “nightlife” experience, so I seek your input.
Real quick: I’m 25, male, traveling solo. I want to meet and bond with my tourmates as much as possible, and want to party a lot too. I’d like the majority of my tourmates to have a similar disposition (Age doesn’t really matter).
I assume the daytime and evenings are similar for both Superior and Budget tours: bus ride, site seeing, optional events. But what about at night?
From reading some travelogs, it seems a lot of the “nightlife” on the Budget tours consisted of partying on on-site Contiki village bar, or playing drinking games in people’s rooms. I realized that I would totally hate this, because I would want to be out partying in some local bars/clubs in the cities instead. I’m not going on a tour of Europe to party in some shack in the woods!
The thing is, from reading some other travelogs, it seems like the Superior folk are a little older, more couples, maybe less social and more inclined to go to bed somewhat early. I’m generalizing of course, but this would be a total bummer too.
So what generally happens between 10pm and 4am on a Budget vs Superior tour? And how possible is it to actually spend time out in the cities during these hours – given the camp/hotel proximity, transportation, etc.?
Any input appreciated!

Hi everyone! I’m leaving in a week for my tour of Greece. I’ll be getting in very early and will have a full day to explore Athens before the tour starts. Does anyone have any “must-see” places I can explore? I’ve heard some people say they relax at the hotel and get over the jetlag, but it seems like a shame to waste a day sitting in a hotel room! Any recommendations?
Thanks in advance! ![]()

I’m contemplating a Ski Austria trip in Dec or Jan and I couldn’t seem to find much info in the way of spending money.
I did a European Highlights trip this summer and I found the estimate of 50-75Euro a day was pretty accurate, but I was wondering how many souvenirs one would actually buy on a ski trip in a small town. I assume, therefore, that the amount of money people spend is less, especially if I buy the 10-dinner meal plan up front (incidently, does anyone know how much that addition costs?).
I was thinking 25Euro a day would probably be enough… Afterall, Lunch should be less than 10 Euro, and an average of 15 Euro a night drinking fund is probably plenty for me (I don’t drink all THAT much). But since it’s a small town, I then thought most people are probably in the bar every night for the social aspect, and I would probably join them, which might raise the budget a touch.
All in all, there just seems to be less information about the ski trips then there are about the other European trips so I feel a little in the dark about it all.

Hey,
Can anyone recommend a good converter/adapter? I have been looking for one, and alot of them are really really heavy..which stinks to travel with! Also, most of the converter say for irons, hair dryers, …do you need a special one, to charge your camera battery, video camera battery, the ceramic chi flat irons ( i know my friend has one of those good flat irons) so was wondering if you need a speical one for things of that nature?
Please help!
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Heya,
Does Contiki still use what was the Contiki Resort in Mykonos for its Greek Island Hop tour? More importantly, now that there aren’t any CAPS there, will the resort still organise a bus to Paradise and Super Paradise beach/club???
Ciao

Hey everyone!!
I’m from Australia and as luck would have it, i’ve never been to the snow so never touched snow, played in snow, walked in snow, whatever it is that people do in snow.
In any case, I’m worried that i’ll be feeling the cold just a little….
has anybody else been over to European winter and can compare it to aussie winter for me?? I want to know how many scarfs, thermals etc to bring.
Thanks!

Hi I’ve never used to this before, and was thinking of doing a tour of america, and just wondered if there are alot of people who go alone on these trips or is more of a place where friends go together.
I would appreciate any response.
Thanks.

I am going on the Great Britain and Southern Ireland trip. I saw that on a lot of the suggested packing lists it says to bring a swimsuit. Is that still true if you are going on a tour like mine (since its not really a trip with beaches from what I understand…)? Do the hotels have pools?

Hi I am considering doing either an aus or nz tour but am concerned about having 4 in a room. Ive done an american contiki tour and it was just twin share, so im surprised that its quad share here. Is it quad share all the way or sometimes triple share? Also, can you book twin share if youre travelling by yourself?

Hi All,
I’m possibly going on one of the Europe tours next year. Just wondering, I am fairly shy when I don’t know anyone in a group. Do the tour operators actually push you to join in?
I’m probably going to try and find some people to go with beforehand.

Thanks for the feed back guys. We actually would love to start at NY and see it at xmas time, but the LA to NY suits us a little better with time away from work.
But as the LA to NY is not a preferred departure date we are worried that it could cancel.
Do yous have any clues on whether theres abit of a history of the LA to NY to cancel at this time of year?
Do we risk it and just book for LA start or should we go with preferred departure of NY?
Cheers Leesa and Lisa

Hi Everyone
I would like to upgrade my digital camera, would it be cheaper to buy here in Aus or wait until go to the U.S.A. My budget is under $300.00, does anyone have any suggestions as to which type of camera (brand etc) takes the clearest photos. My current one is great during the day but not at night.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks…

Has anyone booked on this tour? I was going to do it but just found out it has been cancelled. So looks like i’ll be touring NY on my own. Anyone who knows of good tour groups in NY or has any advice would be helpful!
