Hey,

My partner and I are planning on doing the European Vista in early 2011 and we have just started to buy warm winter stuff in the end of season sales here at home (Australia)…

The main thing we are stuck on is shoes! Can anyone show me specific examples of what shoes they used for a similar tour in winter? Would normal casual shoes be okay, or would we be better off with super sturdy hiking boots that are waterproof?

Just how much snow would be encountered on this tour?

Any advice on shoes please!! And anything else, really Smiler

Thanks

I am after thoughts of people that have completed tours in Europe.

The 45 day tours … do you get enough time in each destination? Is it too much/you forget everything you did before you get home?

Am I better off stringing together a few country specific tours so I can spend more time in specific places?

I have never been to Europe before so any suggestions are appreciated!

Thanks

Hi, I am doing to Grand Explorer tour starting in Auckland and ending in Christchurch (July 29-Aug. 12) and want to spend 2 weeks or so travelling south down the coast to such places as Dunedin after the tour ends. Does anyone have any advice as to the best way to do this (ie. a bus company, etc), or any tips at all? Thanks!

Hi!

Just wondering if anyone had any trouble using a Canadian debit card at the ATMs in Europe?? I’m with CIBC and they said it “should work” but I’d feel better hearing it from someone who used one!

Also, about the optional dinners, they seem a little on the expensive side…does anyone know what the percentage is for people attending the dinners? Are there a lot of other places to eat where we’ll be staying?

I’d really appreciate any advice!

Thanks!
Grace

I’m planning on going on the European Magic alone, and figured it would be a good idea to have a triple share room, this way I can buddy up with people…but I read in one thread that they usually only give you one key for three people? Is this true

Hi!

Going on my first Contiki in May, it’s a superior tour so we will be staying in hotels, do they typically have blowdriers in the rooms? Also are the electric outlets different than the US and will I need convertors? Also ladies how many pairs of shoes did you bring for walking/nights out etc.

Thanks!

Hi everyone,

I am planning on traveling around the UK for around 4-5 days after my Contiki Europe tour. I am intending to go to Wimbledon and am expecting to line up really early in the morning to get a ticket. Does anybody know any reasonably priced accommodation near Wimbledon.

Also, I am planning on travelling to Cardiff, Liverpool/Manchester and Edinburgh at this stage. What are the best budget places to stay in these areas, as well as London. I have looked at hostel639.co.uk.

Thanks for any help.

Hey, these are the two different students cards i can get that give discounts in europe. Apparently the ISIC is more popular and offers more discounts, however i’ve heard that if you flash your ISE card at places that offer dicounts to ISIC cards then they will give you a discount too. Has anyone done this with an ISE card in europe? Or has anyone got any opinions regarding their experiences on the subject? I originally was gonna get an ISIC card but its more convenient for me to get an ISE card…

Hi all, I have just returned from an awesome Simply Italy Tour May 2008. As I got so much help from reading these forums before I went, it is time to return the favour. If anyone has any questions I would love to help out. FYI the optional xtras are worth it. I did all but the Venice dinner and the Florence photo. They are great value and a lot of fun.
