Like the subject line says, does anyone have a suggestion about what kind of bag would be suitable for the Camping tours? What do you recommend. A suitcase, backpack, duffle bag etc.
I’ve got a suitcase which is within Contiki’s size limit but i’m thinking it might be too big for tents.
I would really appriciate any ideas. Thanks.

Hey guys.
So.. I’m incredibally anxious and nervous about the long non-stop Quantas flight from Melbourne to LAX, and I was wondering – what things should I do to keep myself occupied, or keep myself from worrying about everything since I have a terrible fear of flying.
What did, or have you guys done on your extremely long plane trips?

hey everyone,
i am hoping to spend a day or two in lucerne, switzerland next spring (i know, i know…planning way ahead, but i’m already excited, and i have a bunch of people to plan for!!), and was hoping for some advice on mt. pilatus. I would loooove to go up the mountain, but would realistically only want to spend half a day doing so. are there any half-day excursions? what’s the easiest or most fun way to get up, and what are prices typically like? should i look into booking ahead, or do most people just buy tickets day-of?
thank you!

Just wondering if anyone has any info on the opening hours for Vatican City?
My tour’s full day in Rome will be a Sunday and from what I have read, most of the sites seem to be closed, but there is a bit of conflict on the sites I have been to.
Does anyone know if you can still get in to St Peter’s Basilica and the Sistine Chapel on a Sunday?
Cheers

Hey gang, Sorry if this question has been answered before, but I looked around the message board and couldn’t find it.
My wife and I are planning our first ever contiki tour, we are both 30 years old, and while we both enjoy meeting new people, when we have time to explore new cities, we prefer to head off on our own and do our own thing.
Is this frowned upon on these tours? Are you encouraged to do things as a group, or is it ok if we take off by ourselves when siteseeing?
Thanks for any advice.

Just thinking about lugage for my trip. Do people think a suitcase or a pack would be better for traveling through Europe?

Hello. Anyone out there from the GE 141 July 1984 (an eon ago- yes, back in the days of portable sound was in the form of a Walkman- which took a cassette-, Swatch were the plastic watches I thought would never catch on, and oversized CHOOSE LIFE t-shirts were all the rage)?!?!?! We had Alan the driver and Alain the French courier. My husband was Dirty Pierre who was one of the ‘coach packers’. We kept contact intermittently with a few people years ago but as time goes on…. We often think back about the trip and how much FUN we had. Scarry thing is, our daughter is now old enough to want to do one herself. Would we recommend it….as responsible parents….OF COURSE WE WOULD!! I remember thinking back then how OLD 35 was and I didn’t want to get that old….now it’s a case of ‘I wish I was 35’. Would love to hear from anybody from the trip ![]()

Hi- I just booked my tour to Egypt- kinda last minute. All the websites I check indicate that its okay to get the tourist visa upon arriving in cairo, however the person who booked my tour got me a little paranoid about not having it. Anybody have/notice any difficulty with obtaining the visa there?
Thank you.

First off, I’d like to say, I would really appreciate it if this thread could be steered away from me purchasing a Contiki Tour, as I am in major advice for my trip. If it’s right for me to buy the tour with Contiki, I will.
Now, back to the advice! I’m 17 years old, turning 18 in August. I have a nice sum of money coming to me, and I plan to spend about $10K on a trip to Europe for 3 months.
My original plan was to go alone and just backpack around and see the sites myself, until a friend had suggested Contiki. I’ve been searching the website & it looks like an amazing idea, the only thing I have a problem with is.
1) The longest I can find is 39 days, and I want to get away for 3 months. I’m not too worried about this, but if anyone has any suggestions that I’m missing on the main website, that would be awesome!
2) The main reason I want to go to Europe when I turn 18 is so that I can grow as an individual and mature, and have a life experience. I want to be able to do EVERYTHING myself and learn what it’s like to be an “adult”. I’ve seen that Contiki basically guides you along, brings tour guides, etc etc. I’ve been holding onto my parents hands for long enough and I want to break free, and I’m not sure if Contiki is the right thing for me to do this.
If anyone could share some light on what I should do in this situation, and please regard what I’ve said at the beginning of this post, I really need someone who can give advice right now – not a salesperson.
Thanks,
Keegan

Posted this in another forum then realized this was probably the better spot for this. Both seem how I want to spend my vacation. Anyone out there debating between the two?

Hi all,
I am doing the Euro Discovery from Sept 5. The itin states we will be there on the 15th of Sept and the optional is Nouvelle Eve. I have found a tour that goes to the Mouline Rouge with dinner in the Eifel Tower and a short cruise along the Sienne River. Problem is, the tour picks us up at 6pm from our hotel. Question is what do we do during the day in Paris and will we be back at the hotel in time for the pick up time?
I have called the Contiki line here in Aus but it wasn’t very helpful and she wasn’t sure what we do during the day???
From what I gather the group has breakfast together and then venture out seperatly to explore Paris and it is up to you to make your own way back to the hotel? Not sure if anyone can confirm or deny?
Any help would be appreciated and I apologise if the same type of thread has been listed previously.
Thanks!!!
