A friend and I are pretty set on going on the Greek Island hopping tour in September. We like the idea of touring greece while having the option of relaxing on the beaches. I like my fair share of partying but from what I’ve read that’s all you do on this tour. I want to know that if I travel that far I’m going to also have the opportunity of soaking up some culture?!?! I don’t just want to experience Greece intoxicated and forget half my experience. Also I’m prone to hangovers Eeker, is there time to recover during the day? haha!! Thoughts Please!!!!

there r many versions==sort of check lists out there !! Here’s one more,,will update, as & when I can think of something !!!

1. For Ipods/camera- Double adapter, convertor, surge protector

2. Spare battery & extra memory for digital camera

3. 2 credit cards- prefrbly visa & master card. call ur bank ahead of trip & inform them of ur trip. Also have ATM pin for ur credit cards in case of an emergency. Also, carry ur debit card for routine withdrawal

4. Suitcase- Dimensions- 29 * 20 * 10 or 73 * 50 * 25. Duffle bag with wheels or a suitcase. Also take a daypack or simply just a bag-pack. about 20 kgs

5. Cash in euros/ a small amount in TC

6. Hand sanitizer/ Face wipes/ Toilet paper

7. Flip flops/ sandals/ sneakers

8. If ur carrying a cell phone, get an international calling card (EKIT)

9. 1-2 thin towels, which would dry easy

10. Sunscreen/ Sunglasses/ Cap

11. Flashlight

12. Alarm clock

13. Suitcase locks

14. Toiletries/ some laundry soap

15. small handy umbrella

16. Medicines (tylenol, band-aids, triple anti-biotic cream, cough lozenges, anti-diarrheals, motrin, anti-histamine, tyelnol pm or a sleeping pill if needed). If u wanna go crazy, throw in some pain patches (bengay, icy-hot)

17. Ipod/ Digital camera. Dont forget the chargers and the battery holder for the camera

18. Throw in a small bag or empty bagpack in ur suitcase.

19. Have 2-3 sets of all your documents, 1 with u & 1 in ur suitcase

20. Travel pillow

feel free to add,, am sure there r things I took for granted or simply forgot, which probably need to be on the list !!!!!

Hi! New to the forum…haven’t travelled with Contiki yet. I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice about what time of year to do the Scandinavia and Russia tour (33 days). I notice in the 2006 bokk, it says the tour runs from May to August. Is there anyone out there who’s done this trip and can tell me when they went and why they liked it or didn’t like it at that time of year? I’d also like to know if anyone missed out on something because “it wasn’t the right time of year to see/do it”. I’ll probably have a lot of questions about this trip…. Thanks in advance…

Hi everyone, I’ve got another question.

So I know that there are restrictions to size and weight of your bag… but is there restriction as to how many you can bring?
I was going to bring a suitcase and a day bag, but I also wanted to bring a soft empty duffle bag to fill with everything I buy during my trip.
So in the end I’ll have
1.a suitcase
2.my day bag (will be my carry on)
3.duffle bag full of treats and treasures

is this alright as long as they are all light enough?

SmilerHello everyone,

I am interested on going on the “Beaches and Reefs” tour in Australia. However, I am wondering if you could tell me a little about the meals that are included in the tour. I am bit of a picky eater- my meals at home are pretty simple!

Are the meals buffet style? OR
Are the meals planned out ahead of time- for example, 3 course dinners?
If the meals are planned, what kind of things are served from the menu?
Do we get to choose what we eat?

Well, thanks for your advice Cool

hi everyone Smiler
I’m going on the European Inspiration on Jan 22 07’ and just have a few questions:

Whats the deal with drinking water? As in how safe is it to drink the water in each hotel room/ country etc. In the past whenever I’ve travelled I’ve always been told to drink bottled water so you don’t get an upset stomach from the change in water supply. Do most people just fill up drink bottles in their hotel room or buy bottled? silly i know but was just wondering :P

Also in order to save money my friend and i were hoping to just buy basic fillings for sandwhiches to take with us for lunch for most days. Does anyone else do this? are there any basic stores that sell this around the cities? or should we just not worry- i guess we’d suss it out when we got there- don’t wanna be wasting the tour looking for grocery store!

thanks Smiler
Vicky

Hello everyone,

I will be on the London&Paris (extended) tour in September and I would like to know the name of the Hotel in both cities.
Does anybody know?

In addition, a friend of mine told me that visit Stonehenge and town of Bath is not worth, once that London has so many places to visit, and we will have only one afternoon free to see the main attractions.

:-)

I was wondering about airport transfers that are included when you book your flights through contiki…I’m assuming you get a voucher for the transfer from heathrow to london? But more importantly, the flight my travel agent booked, when booking my contikit trip leaves from paris at 11:30am on my last day, and when I was reading about airport tranfers on the last day to charles de gualle airport, it said something about 10am…can anyone confirm this or have more info about airport tranfers, etc…should I be planning to get to the airport in Paris on my own?

Hi everyone!

Just a quick question … does anyone know if this hotel will hold bags for the day after check-out? I’m contemplating a later flight home from NYC and was curious if they store bags. If so, do you remember the cost?

Many thanks! Smiler
